Edmonton's patio season is short and the rules for dogs are set bar by bar. Eleven patios that recent guides list as dog-friendly, sorted by neighbourhood, and what to ask before you leave the house.

Nothing on this page comes from a bar's own website. Ten of the eleven patios below were listed as dog-friendly in Edify's 2026 Patio Guide, published in May 2026, and the eleventh, Odd Company Brewing, comes from a Daily Hive patio roundup from July 2025. None of the venues confirmed a dog policy on their own pages when checked in October 2026.
That matters more for dogs than for almost anything else. A dog policy can depend on which part of the patio is open, how busy the night is, who is managing the shift, or a change of mind since spring. A wing price that changes costs a few dollars; a dog policy that changes means turning around at the gate.
So the rule for this whole page is simple: phone first, and ask the specific question. Is the patio open today, and can a dog sit with you on it?
Downtown has the most listings, which is mostly a reflection of how many patios it has. Edify's guide lists 1st RND Downtown on 104 Avenue as minor-friendly and dog-friendly, the Sherlock Holmes Pub on 101A Avenue as a relaxed, dog-friendly patio, and Kelly's Pub on 104 Street as dog-friendly and minor-friendly until 9 pm.
Closer to the arena, Campio Brewing Co. on 105 Street and Braven Terrace at the JW Marriott, the hotel connected to Rogers Place, are both listed as minor- and dog-friendly.
One opinion, freely given: an Oilers game night is the wrong night for a dog anywhere near Rogers Place. The sidewalks fill, the patios get loud when a goal goes in, and a dog under a table becomes something for a hundred people to step around. The Oilers game-night guide is for those nights; this page is for a Tuesday in July.

Source: edifyedmonton.com, 2026-05-01West of the core, the listings get sparse. Fu's Repair Shop on Jasper Avenue appears in Edify's 2026 guide with a dog-friendly patio, and that is all the guide says about it.
On 124 Street, Three Vikings Food + Drink is the one patio listed as dog-friendly in the same guide. The street is a pleasant walk with a dog in summer, which makes it a reasonable place to try, but one listing is a thin basis for a plan. Call ahead, and read the Whyte Ave and 124 Street guide for the rest of the strip.

Source: edifyedmonton.com, 2026-05-01On the Old Strathcona side of the river, Edify lists The Next Act Pub, just off Whyte Avenue on 104 Street, as dog-friendly and minor-friendly until 5 pm. Longroof Brewing on 72 Avenue, south of the main strip, is listed with a dog-friendly patio.
Whyte itself is busy on foot, especially on weekend evenings, so a dog that is calm on a quiet patio may be less calm after three blocks of crowded sidewalk. An early afternoon visit is kinder to everyone, including the dog.

Source: edifyedmonton.com, 2026-05-01Odd Company Brewing was described by Daily Hive in July 2025 as having a dog-permitting patio at both of its locations, one in Oliver on 102 Avenue and one in Ritchie on 76 Avenue. That roundup is the oldest source on this page, so it is the one most worth confirming.
Duggan's Boundary Irish Pub on 88 Avenue appears in Edify's 2026 guide with a quiet backyard patio listed as dog-friendly. Quiet is the operative word for a dog, and a backyard patio away from traffic is usually the easiest kind of patio to sit on with one.

Edmonton patio weather swings fast, and dogs feel it before people do. On a hot afternoon, concrete and patio decking in full sun can be uncomfortable for paws, so pick a table with shade and bring water rather than counting on a bowl being available. Many patios do put one out; the listings do not say which.
In the shoulder months, it is the cold that catches people out. A September evening can feel like summer at six and like a different season by nine, and a short-haired dog on a cold patio stone will let you know. In winter, the salt and de-icer on downtown sidewalks are hard on paws, so a quick wipe after the walk is worth the effort.
Heated, covered patios stretch the season but are their own question. A heated patio is still the venue's space, and a policy that allows dogs in July may not apply once the patio is enclosed for winter. Indoors is different again: outside of service animals, do not assume a dining room will let a dog in, and ask before walking through the door.
Patio manners are simple. A short leash, a dog that stays under the table rather than in the server's path, and a willingness to leave early if the dog is not enjoying it.
A good phone call takes thirty seconds. Ask whether the patio is open that day, whether dogs are allowed on all of it or only one section, and whether there is a cut-off time, since some of these patios already have a time limit for minors. Ask whether the patio takes reservations or is first come, first served.
For the rest of the city, the Edmonton city guide sets out the neighbourhoods, and the Edmonton wing nights and happy hours page covers the deals at several of the same bars, including the Sherlock Holmes Pub, whose patio is on this list and whose Tuesday wings are half price all day.
If the answer on the phone is no, take it at face value and pick another patio from the list. Duggan's backyard on 88 Avenue is the one to keep in reserve: quiet, away from traffic, and the only patio on this list described that way.
FAQ
Edify's 2026 Patio Guide lists patios at 1st RND Downtown, the Sherlock Holmes Pub, Kelly's Pub, Campio Brewing, Braven Terrace, Fu's Repair Shop, Three Vikings, The Next Act Pub, Longroof Brewing and Duggan's Boundary Irish Pub as dog-friendly. Daily Hive listed Odd Company Brewing in 2025. Confirm with each venue before going.
The Next Act Pub, just off Whyte Avenue on 104 Street, is listed as dog-friendly in Edify's 2026 guide, and so is Longroof Brewing on 72 Avenue, south of the strip. Whyte gets crowded on weekend evenings, so an afternoon visit is usually easier with a dog.
Some patios are heated or covered, but the listings on this page describe summer patio policies. A venue that allows dogs on an open patio in July may not do so once the patio is enclosed or closed for the season. Phone ahead in the colder months and ask specifically.
Do not assume so. Outside of service animals, dining rooms generally do not welcome dogs, and the venues on this page were listed for their patios, not their interiors. Ask the restaurant directly before walking in with a dog, and expect the answer to vary by venue.
Bring water and a bowl, a short leash and something for the dog to lie on if the patio surface is hot or cold. Choose a table in the shade in summer and away from the server's path. In winter, wipe the dog's paws after walking on salted sidewalks.
